Step inside the jawdropping home of the plantlover extraordinaire

Graphic designer and blogger Judith de Graaff is half of the founder duo behind the Urban Jungle Bloggers movement, which is taking the blogosphere by storm and making it an altogether greener place. Judith blogs at JOELIX.com and together with fellow blogger and plant lover Igor Josifovic of Happy Interior Blog, Judith aims to highlight the beauty and benefits of houseplants and other greeneries in urban spaces. Here Judith shares the scoop about her style and lets us take a look into her Little Black Book of Paris!

Study home office my with plants

A bit about yourself:

My name is Judith, I blog at JOELIX.com and am one of the founders of the Urban Jungle Bloggers community. I work as a graphic designer and live just outside Paris, where I also have my home office.

When I’m not blogging or working with clients, I love to travel, see different countries and meet new people. Plants are an important part of my lifestyle; I have approximately 150 plants at home and when I travel I love visiting botanical gardens or look for nice plants and cuttings in local greenhouses or simply at the side of the road. They make the perfect souvenirs and remind me of my trips. Our home is bright and colourful and the large windows of our industrial building let in an abundance of sunlight which my plants seem to appreciate even more than me.

Where you live and who you live with:

I live in a former factory building of 550m2 just outside Paris, with my husband, 3 cats and approximately 150 plants.

Favourite/coolest item in your home:

My favourite items in our home are my plants, without a doubt. They add liveliness to our home decor and are in constant movement too. I also really like our pending lamps, from Ilka Plast, Colani and Gubi.

Kitchen plants our fridge mug espresso cups stelton illy white

Fail-safe decorating trick:

Gather a few plants in different pots and heights. A #plantgang looks good on a shelf, table, sideboard. Anywhere!

First thing you thought of this morning:

Yay, sun’s shining! (they predicted a very cloudy day)

A talent you wish you had:

I’d love to be able to read fast (and learn more in same amount of time).

Advice to your younger self:

Don’t be shy, just do it!

Favourite band of all times:

Pearl Jam or Red Snapper or Wax Tailor or… too much to choose from!

Your style icon:

Favourite /least favourite colour:

Yellow is my fave and beige my least favourite.

Best way to de-compress:

Tending to my plants or going for a run.

A superpower you wish you had:

Cats or Dogs:

Our 3 cats!

Coolest thing about Paris:

Paris is always changing and always the same.

Where you like to hang out:

In general I prefer walking around over hanging out, but my favourites are the Serres d’Auteuil (greenhouses) and the Grand Palais.

Favourite restaurant/ bar /café:

Marché des Enfants Rouges for streetfood, The Broken Arm for coffee (+ shopping), Anticafé to work

Top 3 local stores:

Mama Petula for plants, Papier Tigre for nice paper goods, Magasin Bleu (69 rue Condorcet) for eclectic home decor
